Diwakar Balasubramanyam is Chief Engineer at Quest Global, based in the United Kingdom, where he leads engineering strategy and management. His career spans more than three decades in aerospace and defense engineering, extending into energy programs, and much of that journey has been built alongside Quest Global itself. Diwakar’s history with the company goes back to its earliest days. He joined in May 1998 as its first employee and led an engineering team supporting a global energy and industrial conglomerate for close to seven years. He returned to Quest Global in 2013 as an Engineering Manager. Ten years later, in 2023, he came back again as Chief Engineer, taking on broader responsibility for how engineering teams are built and led. After that first stretch at Quest Global, he spent the next several years building engineering organizations elsewhere, starting with Tech Mahindra, where he established the Energy & Utilities vertical from the ground up, growing it into a team of more than 150 engineers spanning mechanical, electronics, embedded, and software disciplines. At TurboTech Precision Engineering, as Head of Research and Development and Technical and P&L Owner, he led defense programs from concept through fully qualified products. Back at Quest Global Engineering Limited from 2013 to 2022, he led the delivery of an integrated design tool for aero engines, now deployed across multiple engine platforms, and built PLM capabilities across data security and cloud data management. He also advised a key client on building capability for aircraft electric propulsion. Diwakar holds a patent for an inlet bleed heater used in compressor systems, issued in 2004, and his hands-on engineering experience includes a helicopter engine oil cooling system qualified to DO-160D standards. His education includes a B.E. in Mechanical Engineering from Bangalore University and a postgraduate diploma in business administration from ICFAI Business School.
